hēRo3 now has a feature that will automatically generate a state-transition diagram for every Markov cohort model if you would like one. These state-transition diagrams are generated based on the states in a model (on the States page) and the transitions defined between them (on the Transitions page). These diagrams are created in ‘real time’, and will change when you add or omit health states, or create or delete transitions between these states. This feature of hēRo3 can be a very useful tool for making sure that you have defined all transitions between health states that should be in your model.
hēRo3 uses complex physics algorithms to optimize the placement of states in the graphical representation of your model based on the transitions between them. However, if you don’t like the placement of one or more states in the display that hēRo3 generates, you can ‘pin’ individual health states by dragging them into place. You also can ‘un-pin’ a state by clicking 
, or you can ‘un-pin’ all states simultaneously by clicking 
on the right-hand toolbar, and then selecting ‘Clear All Pins’.
hēRo3 also will automatically color code initial health state and absorbing health states if you click on the right-hand toolbar, and toggle ‘Color State Types’ on. You also can zoom in and zoom out on state-transitions diagram using the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ icons located on the right-hand toolbar. You also can reset the view to the default setting by clicking 
located on the right-hand toolbar.
The default status of hēRo3 is to display state-transitions diagrams for Markov cohort models. If you would like to hide this diagram, or if you have a model where this diagram is not shown and you want to display it, you can do so by clicking 
, located at the top right of the page.
